Job DetailsJob Location: Salemtowne - Winston Salem, NC 27106Position Type: Full TimeJob Summary: The Admissions Coordinator coordinates and manages electronic referral sources. Makes timely bed offers or denials. Coordinates internal admissions to the Health Care Center. Essential Job Functions: Manages the electronic referral sources for both primary hospitals. Reviews referrals and make bed offers based on qualifying payer sources, appropriate medical conditions, reasonable anticipated expenses related to a short-term rehab stay, and other criteria set forth by the Administrator. Makes timely bed offers to ensure Salemtowne is the provider of choice among discharge planners in the marketplace. Maintains a general knowledge of nursing conditions to make beds offers on patients appropriate for Salemtowne’s Short-term Rehab program. Works with the Director of Admission to coordinate all internal and external admissions from the community into the long-term care program of the health care center. Coordinates all external admissions into the short-term rehab program of the health care center. Focuses on referrals that fit with the overall goal of Salemtowne’s Short-term Rehab program including but not limited to elective joint replacements. Maintains a general knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, HMOs, Medicare replacement plans, and secondary insurances to verify benefits and communicate effectively with patients, families, and referral sources. Assigns accommodations for new admissions based on diagnosis, social and nursing needs availability of space, and other information. Informs prospective residents and patients of their responsibilities, rights, and all benefits. Serves as back-up to ensure all admissions paperwork is completed thoroughly, accurately and on a timely basis Participate in all necessary meetings to alert appropriate staff members of projected admissions, room changes, discharges, and appointments/tours. Always maintains communication with the Director of Admissions. Supports and promotes Salemtowne Shines culture and philosophy. Performs other duties as assigned. QualificationsRequired Skills/Abilities: Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the public. Must be flexible, self-motivated, self-directed, and organized Ability to operate in fast-paced environment. Proficient with Microsoft 365. Strong communication skills, verbal, and written. Possess a strong sense of urgency and good work ethic. Ability to have positive interactions and relationships. People-oriented and compassionate. Well-organized and excellent time-management skills. Education and Experience: Associate degree in an administration or a healthcare related field. Other degrees and /or work experience will be considered. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Normal sitting, pulling/pushing, kneeling, stooping, bending, reaching, talking, and hearing. Standing and sitting for long periods of time. Must be able to quickly respond to medical emergencies. Work Environment: Work in a clean, well-lighted facility. Possible work hazards include bloodborne pathogens, moving parts, muscular pains, and strong offensive odors.
