Job DetailsJob Location: Arbor Acres Winston Salem - Winston Salem, NC 27104Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $15.50 - $16.25 HourlyJob Shift: 8a - 4:30p FT M-FJob Category: Hospitality - Hotel Job Description Utility Worker – Janitorial / Floor Technician Floor Technician / Custodian Position Description The Floor Technician/Custodian (Utility Worker) is responsible for grounds maintenance throughout the campus of Arbor Acres not covered by grounds contractors, including trash pick up, cleaning of walkways, driveways, and occasionally, snow removal. Assists with miscellaneous housekeeping and performs floor care activities. Status  Non Exempt:  Hours: M-F Days / Rotating Weekends Job Relationships Reports to and is supervised by the Housekeeping Supervisor. Floor Technician/Custodian Duties and Responsibilities Pick up trash from residential areas. Keep sidewalk areas clean (snow removal as needed). Perform housekeeping duties, such as washing down walls, cleaning windows in common areas,  removing trash from common areas. Perform routine set ups and take downs for events and activities in various areas of the campus. Assist housekeeping with annual cleanings by moving furniture, cleaning vents, washing windows, and washing the outside of units, when needed. Assist in laundry and other areas as needed Buffs, polishes and strips floors Cleans and buffs hard surfaces. Sweeps, mops, scrubs, polishes floors and vacuums hallways, stairs and office space, etc. Notifies supervisor concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment. Performs routine operational maintenance of equipment per manufacturer specifications May perform advanced cleaning procedures for carpeted floor and carpet care. May clean furniture. May empty and transport clean and soiled linen. May handle hazardous waste in accordance with government regulations and department standards. May assist in training other employees. Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures. Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner. Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments. Applies all applicable OSHA and related local safety requirements to all assigned work. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. May drive golf carts, or other vehicles. May assist in inventorying floor care products. Typical Physical Demands Must correctly use personal protective equipment due to the use of potentially hazardous chemical and the operation of machinery. Ability to lift 30 lbs. Ability to walk extensively, to squat, bend, kneel, climb to reach 8 ft. ceilings, and reach above shoulders. Needs sense of sight, hearing, smell and touch. Must be able to successfully complete the WorkSTEPS Functional Testing program.  This program assists in determining whether applicants/employees are able to safely perform essential job functions. Floor Technician / Custodian Key Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, holidays, weekends, and extended hours as business dictates to meet the needs of a 24-hour facility. Work habits must include: regular attendance, punctuality, teamwork, willingness to learn, initiative, dependability, and promptness. Ability to communicate with residents, family members, and other staff. Ability to pay attention to detail and utilize equipment properly. Must be able to thoroughly read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
