Job DetailsJob Location: YOUTH HAVEN-FORSYTH CO WINSTON SALEM - WINSTON SALEM, NC 27105Position Type: PRNJob Shift: AnyResidential House Counselor – PRN Youth Haven Services – Winston-Salem, North Carolina Youth Haven Services is expanding its residential services in Winston-Salem, NC, and we are seeking dependable and compassionate PRN Residential House Counselors to join our team. Our Residential Program serves clients in DSS custody and care who are in need of placement. The primary purpose of the home is to provide a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment while a long-term placement is secured. This is a PRN/as-needed, on-call position. Individuals interested in PRN employment should have a flexible schedule and be available to work various shifts throughout the week, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Position Summary The Residential House Counselor provides direct care and rehabilitative services to clients in the residential program. This position provides behavioral modification interventions as outlined in each client's Person-Centered Plan and is responsible for promoting the overall safety, well-being, and welfare of clients. Essential Job Duties 1. Skill Building – 35% Provide clients with skill-building activities, including independent living skills, socialization, adaptation, and symptom monitoring/management skills. Encourage clients to develop appropriate coping, communication, and daily living skills. 2. Therapeutic & Behavioral Support – 35% Provide therapeutic mentoring, anger management, and social skills training. Implement behavioral modification interventions as approved and outlined in the client's Person-Centered Plan. Review client information and Person-Centered Plans to understand each individual's needs, limitations, strengths, and goals. Promote a structured, supportive, and therapeutic environment. 3. Residential & Daily Living Responsibilities – 15% Maintain a clean, safe, and organized residential environment. Complete shift cleaning, meal preparation, and bed checks. Transport clients as needed and necessary. Assist with daily routines and activities within the residential setting. 4. Documentation & Records – 10% Complete documentation regarding client progress in accordance with program guidelines and within required timeframes. Maintain required client records and complete paperwork and other documentation as assigned. 5. Other Duties – 5% Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required to support the residential program and the needs of clients. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or equivalent required. Experience A minimum of two (2) years of documented experience working with the population served is preferred. Experience working with children, adolescents, behavioral health, residential services, or other related human services settings is preferred. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities The ideal candidate will demonstrate: Knowledge of community resources and support services. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to use basic computer programs, including word processing and Excel. Ability to utilize electronic documentation/e-notes systems. Strong organizational and prioritization skills. Flexibility and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Ability to develop productive and professional relationships with clients, families, and team members. Ability to exercise sound judgment and make responsible decisions. Ability to take direction and demonstrate initiative. Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Compassion, patience, dependability, and a commitment to supporting youth in a therapeutic environment. Schedule PRN / As Needed / On-Call Must have flexibility to work various shifts throughout the week and weekends. Availability may include day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts, based on program needs. PRN staff may be contacted to provide coverage when regular staff are unavailable, or additional staffing support is needed. Travel Requirements Services are primarily provided in the residential setting in Winston-Salem, NC. Employees may be required to transport clients as needed.
