Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The primary purpose of this job is to assure that all products produced meet PCNA specifications.  The Lead Lab Technician operates, monitors, and makes adjustments on the blending equipment to assure product quality. Reviews daily records for accuracy, trains new associates, and works with the team to ensure only the highest quality products are manufactured. Other responsibilities include testing water quality, syrup quality, sugar testing, finished product testing, and packaging testing as outlined by PCNA quality procedures and methods, as well as other jobs and duties assigned. The Lead Lab Technician works closely with the QC Supervisor and QC Manager on a daily basis creating a productive and efficient team.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  • Performs micro blend operation.
  • Tests finished products, packages, water, syrup, and high-fructose corn syrup.
  • Monitors production lines for beverage quality.
  • Calibrates equipment.
  • Testing and treat water
  • Microbiology collecting, plating, reading and recording
  • Receives concentrate
  • Controls lab inventory (Kanban)
  • Trains new technicians
  • CIP Verification/Setup/Perform
  • Organizes storage, perform housekeeping and trash removal
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High school or equivalent or three (3) years of quality control experience.
  • Must have basic math and computer skills.
  • Background in chemistry and laboratory environment preferred.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Must be able to think analytically.
  • Good hand eye coordination.
  • Must be self-motivated with strong initiative.
  • Must be able to learn and follow establish procedures without deviation.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have good training and leadership skills.
  • Must be able to work hours necessary to complete assigned tasks.

Mental Functions

Diversified and complex job requiring continuous and sustained mental effort and alertness or very close work requiring constant visual attention. 

Physical Functions

Constantly (67%-100%) required to stand.  Frequently (34%-66%) required to walk.  Occasionally (0%-33%) required to climb, and lift up to 50 lbs. 

EQUIPMENT USED

Analytical lab equipment, calculator, computer, microblend, syrup room equipment, water treatment equipment and deaireator.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES

None required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehends English proficiently.
