About the Quality Technician Night Shift position


The Quality Technician performs routine inspections of company products using various testing methods and equipment consistently. The Quality Technician is responsible for responsible for ensuring that the products and materials received, made, and shipped meet company and customer quality specifications and standards.  


Quality Technician responsibilities are:

  • Report for assigned shift in a timely manner, in appropriate attire.
  • Adherence to Garner Foods policies, FDA, GMP, SQF, HACCP and other applicable regulations.
  • Set up and operate laboratory equipment in a safe, efficient, and productive manner according to Garner Foods and customer specifications.
  • Monitor audit and report on incoming products and materials, testing to ensure quality.
  • Monitor and adjust product weights, pasteurizer, retorts, and clock charts on the production lines.
  • Complete required documentation including production and quality assurance logs. 
  • Validate product information is correct, and check/report any defects.
  • Modify/adjust formulas to maintain product specifications and document changes.
  • Adjust Raw Material inventory per production line usage.
  • Use computer system to enter information, print paperwork, access orders, read and understand customer specification, and set-up assigned equipment accordingly.
  • Keep the workplace neat, clean, and sanitary in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and correct issues with equipment.
  • Assure all quality checks have been performed, and product meets all customer specifications.
  • Follow established safety rules and report deficiencies found.
  • Perform other duties as directed by management.

Safety and Food Safety Responsibility

This is a safety-sensitive role with direct responsibility for maintaining a safe work environment and protecting food safety and product integrity. Strict adherence to all workplace safety and food safety programs, including GMP, HACCP, and SQF standards, is required. Employees must identify, report, and escalate hazards and process deviations, and are expected to take immediate action to stop or correct unsafe conditions or risks to product quality.

Requirements

Quality Technician requirements are:


  • Associates degree or three (3) years of equivalent experience in Quality Assurance, required.
  • Prior manufacturing experience, Food and or beverage industry preferred.
  • Working knowledge of GMP, FDA, SQF, HACCP regulations and requirements, preferred.
  • Ability to work in wet non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Strong commitment to safety, customers, quality, and productivity is required.
  • Ability to stand/walk/bend/kneel /crouch/climb (when necessary) for duration of shift assigned.
  • Able to read, write, and follow verbal/written procedures, including computer based.
  • Strong attention to detail skills.
  • Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. 
  • Ability to work overtime, holidays, weekends, if necessary.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, hearing protection, hairnets, beard nets (if applicable), gloves, and steel toe shoes correctly.
