Position Summary:
Performs quality routine and more advanced NCS (Nerve Conduction Study) testing on both common and uncommon nerves on patients of all ages.
Education/Training
- Associate’s Degree in Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Technology, mathematics, or health-related field.
Licensure/Certification
- Registered Nerve Conduction Study Technologist (R.NCS.T.) Certification (if certified after 01/01/2009, must recertify every 5 yrs)
- BLS/HealthCare Provider Certification
Experience
- Four (4) years of progressive hands-on and theoretical NCS testing experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs common and uncommon NCSs in a highly skilled, patient-appropriate manner; recognizes normal and abnormal results and takes reasonable steps to eliminate physiological and non-physiological artifact.
- Exercises knowledge of the diagnostic span and skills necessary to provide care and assessment appropriate to the age and status of the patients served.
- Greets patients and explains testing procedures to obtain the cooperation necessary for a complete examination, following review of patient’s medical record for orders and special needs.
- Facilitates all aspects of study completion, including taking patient history, necessary paperwork, charging, and archiving.
- Troubleshoots equipment, inventories and stocks supplies, and ensures cleanliness of examination room.
- Maintains knowledge of current practices and techniques as recommended through continuing education.
- Takes call as needed and responds in a timely manner.
- Maintains appropriate communication and interpersonal skills with patients and laboratory, physician, and other staff.
- Files/copies print or electronic medical records according to laboratory policies and procedures and as requested.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
