POSITION SUMMARY

Motor City Wash Works is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Paint Booth Operator to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for preparing, painting, and inspecting steel conveyor sections and various car wash components using Wagner spray equipment within a designated paint booth environment.

The ideal candidate has experience with industrial painting techniques, maintains high-quality standards, and is committed to workplace safety. This position plays an important role in ensuring finished products meet company quality expectations and customer requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare steel conveyor sections, fabricated assemblies, and other car wash components for painting.

  • Operate Wagner paint spray equipment and related painting tools within a controlled paint booth environment.

  • Apply primers, paints, and protective coatings according to company specifications and quality standards.

  • Verify proper paint coverage, finish quality, and coating consistency on completed parts.

  • Perform touch-up work as needed to ensure products meet appearance and quality requirements.

  • Load, unload, and position parts for painting using material-handling equipment as required.

  • Maintain paint booth cleanliness and proper housekeeping within assigned work areas.

  • Clean and maintain spray guns, hoses, pumps, and related painting equipment.

  • Monitor paint and coating inventory levels and notify management when supplies need to be replenished.

  • Follow all safety procedures related to paint handling, personal protective equipment, and hazardous materials.

  • Work from production schedules and manufacturing documentation to meet production deadlines.

  • Inspect finished products for defects and communicate quality concerns to supervisors.

  • Assist with general manufacturing and production activities as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • One to three years of industrial, manufacturing, automotive, or commercial painting experience preferred.

  • Experience operating airless, air-assisted, or conventional spray equipment preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finished products.

  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, specifications, and production schedules.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to maintain painting equipment.

  • Ability to safely handle paints, coatings, solvents, and related materials.

  • Forklift experience preferred but not required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday.

  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to paints, coatings, solvents, and production equipment.

  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment, including a respirator, safety glasses, gloves, and protective clothing.

  • Must be able to successfully complete the required respirator medical evaluation and fit test.



Full time, Mon-Fri, 6:00 AM-2:30 PM.
