Position Overview: As a Diesel Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with strong technical expertise and a passion for automotive mechanics. 

Responsibilities: 

Diagnosis and Repair: 

  • Perform thorough inspections and diagnostic tests on heavy-duty vehicles and equipment to identify issues and determine necessary repairs. 
  • Repair and maintain various components and systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, and electrical systems. 
  • Replace or repair defective parts, components, or systems using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment. 

Preventive Maintenance: 

  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and fluid checks, to ensure vehicles and equipment operate smoothly and efficiently. 
  • Inspect and service hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems to prevent breakdowns and prolong equipment lifespan. 

Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: 

  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues to identify root causes and develop effective repair solutions. 
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment, technical manuals, and schematics to assist in troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts. 

Safety and Compliance: 

  • Adhere to safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others. 
  • Follow manufacturer specifications and industry standards to perform repairs and maintenance tasks accurately and safely. 
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including work performed, parts used, and hours worked. 

Collaboration and Communication: 

  • Collaborate with other team members, including mechanics, supervisors, and parts personnel, to coordinate work assignments and prioritize tasks. 
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, customers, and other stakeholders regarding repair status, findings, and recommendations. 

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a formal apprenticeship program or technical training in heavy-duty mechanics preferred. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a heavy-duty mechanic preferred. 
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in diagnosing and repairing heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. 
  • Familiarity with a wide range of tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices used in the automotive/heavy-duty repair industry. 
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics. 
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to quality workmanship.
