Position Summary

The Program Coordinator supports the daily coordination and delivery of high-quality youth development programs. This position assists with implementing engaging activities, supporting frontline staff and volunteers, maintaining a safe environment, and ensuring programs align with Boys & Girls Clubs of America standards, licensing requirements, and organizational goals. The Program Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Club Director and does not have independent authority over personnel decisions.



Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited institution required

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with children or youth in a group setting

  • Experience providing lead, mentoring, or peer support preferred



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of youth development principles and age-appropriate programming

  • Ability to coordinate activities and support staff in a team-based environment

  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Basic computer proficiency, including data entry and Microsoft Office applications

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries

  • Understanding of mandated reporter responsibilities and child safety requirements



Essential Functions

Program Coordination & Youth Development

  • Assist with planning and delivering safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate programs

  • Coordinate daily program activities, schedules, and special events

  • Promote member participation and positive behavior

  • Serve as a positive role model and provide guidance to youth

  • Enforce Club rules and safety procedures consistently

  • Ensure facilities, equipment, and supplies are properly used and maintained

  • Maintain accurate attendance records, activity documentation, and program data

  • Complete incident, accident, and behavior reports in a timely manner

  • Report suspected child abuse or neglect in accordance with mandated reporter laws

Operational & Staff Support

  • Provide day-to-day support and guidance to program staff and volunteers

  • Assist with staff onboarding, training, and coverage as assigned

  • Communicate safety concerns, policy issues, and operational needs to the Club Director

  • Maintain confidentiality of member, family, and employee information

  • Support compliance with applicable federal, state, licensing, and grant requirements

  • Operate Club vehicles in accordance with organizational policy, as required



Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and movement during program activities

  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions

  • Exposure to moderate to high noise levels typical of youth programming environments

  • Local travel required; occasional regional travel may be required
