Job Overview

Fairview is seeking an Emergency Department Technician (EDT) to join our Emergency Department team at M Health Fairview Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury, MN.
Our 24/7 Emergency Department serves the eastern Twin Cities metro鈥攊ncluding Woodbury, Oakdale, Cottage Grove, and Maplewood鈥攑roviding expert, compassionate care for patients of all ages with urgent and critical medical needs. As an Emergency Department Technician you will participate in providing a health care experience that empowers our customers and their families to live life better. The Emergency Department Technician (EDT) is responsible for assisting the professional nurse in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and/or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and re-ordering and stocking supplies. The EDT may or may not be given a patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the professional nurse.

Schedule:聽This position will be working 0.60 FTE (48 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hour evening 3pm-3am shifts with an every third weekend rotation.聽

Job Expectations:

Provides patient care:

路 Transports patients by wheelchair and cart

路 Assists patients with ambulation and positioning

路 Informs RN of patient/family observations and concerns

路 Promptly responds to patient call lights/requests

路 Demonstrates concern for patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality

路 Performs tasks with adaptations or modifications consistent with patients ages and developmental abilities

路 Obtains ordered specimens from patient

路 Transports specimens and blood products

路 Demonstrates adherence to proper procedures

路 Assists in resuscitation

路 Functions as nurse extender: assists nurses with patient care activities

Documents patient care activities and procedures on the nursing records.

路 Documentation is clear, concise, accurate and timely

Maintains room/unit and supplies

路 Restocks room, supplies, and carts

路 Assists with patient room clean-up between patients

路 Completes room and cart checklist

Performs quality control checks on designated pieces of equipment

路 Completes quality control checklist

路 Reports discrepancies and malfunctions to charge nurse or manager

Required Qualifications (Must have BLS certification and ONE of the following):

  • Current EMT or ERT certification

  • Current Paramedic certification

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on the MN Registry

  • Enrolled in an LPN, RN, or NP program (with at least 1 completed clinical semester)

  • Six months of recent hands-on patient care experience (acute, long-term, or home care)

  • Completed Fairview鈥檚 OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program

  • LPN licensure

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of Emergency Department experience (EMT, ERT, paramedic, scribe, etc.)

  • Current experience as a CNA or NST
