Functional Description

The ideal candidate will have experience diagnosing and repairing electronic systems at the component level. In addition to performing hands-on repairs, the Senior Repair Technician will also lead the repair team, ensuring high-quality work, training, and adherence to operational goals. 

This role requires hands-on work with components like capacitors, resistors, and integrated circuits (ICs), using diagnostic tools and test equipment while also acting as a mentor and technical expert.

Scope of Outcomes

The core responsibilities for this position include:

  • Identify faults and malfunctioning components in electronic devices through systematic troubleshooting, using diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators
  • Perform repairs and replacements of individual electronic components such as capacitors, resistors, ICs, and transistors
  • Ensure repairs are made with precision to restore devices to optimal functionality
  • Use test equipment to ensure that repaired systems are working within operational specifications
  • Conduct functional tests and calibrations to meet quality standards
  • Perform in-depth analysis of faulty devices to determine the root cause of the issue and recommend corrective actions to prevent future failures
  • Maintain detailed records of repairs, including diagnostics, parts replaced, and relevant observations
  • Document repairs for future reference and quality control purposes
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to repair technicians, fostering skill development and ensuring adherence to best practices
  • Assign repair tasks to team members based on skill and workload capacity to ensure efficient operations and timely delivery of projects
  • Review/inspect repairs completed by team members to maintain standards
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance team members' technical abilities and understanding of safety standards
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated repair challenges, providing advanced troubleshooting and solutions
  • Collaborate with management to identify and implement improvements in repair processes and workflows for increased efficiency
  • Act as a liaison between the repair team, production, and management to provide updates on repair status and team performance

Qualifications

Required qualifications include: 

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline), or an equivalent combination of skills, training, and hands-on experience in electronics repair
  • 5+ years experience troubleshooting, and repairing PCBA at component level with or without schematics
  • 5+ years using DMMs, Oscilloscopes, Function Generations, and LCR Meters in a professional environment
  • Proven experience in component-level repair and troubleshooting of complex electronic systems
  • Familiarity with a variety of electronics, including medical devices, industrial equipment, or consumer electronics
  • Strong knowledge of common electronic components (resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors, ICs) and how they function within circuits
  • Proficient with testing and diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and signal generators
  • Experienced in soldering, desoldering, and reworking electronic components at the component level
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify problems, perform thorough diagnostics, and propose effective solutions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members, management, and other departments when necessary
  • Ability to work with precision and ensure repairs meet quality standards
  • Experience in quality control, inventory management, and production environments
  • Background in a service-based industry supporting patient care is a plus
  • IPC-7711/7721 Certification is preferred

Environmental and Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 75 pounds
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to travel, both domestically and internationally, for extended periods of time
  • Dexterous ability to manipulate small objects
  • Willing to work standard and non-standard hours as required to support the customers
