What We Need 

Kymeta is seeking a highly motivatedSenior Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to lead the development and implementation of RF focused manufacturing processes for advanced satellite communication products. This position will focus on the manufacturing and assembly of complex electromechanical and RF products, supporting new product introduction (NPI), and production scale-up and transfer. 

The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical manufacturing expertise with hands-on experience supporting RF assemblies, electronic integration, process validation, tooling development, and supplier manufacturing readiness. This role works cross-functionally with Design Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Test Engineering, and Contract Manufacturers to ensure robust, scalable, and cost-effective production solutions. 

  

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Lead manufacturing process development and production readiness activities for RF critical assemblies and high precision mechanical componentassembly. While some sustaining work will occur, this role is primarily focused on NPI.   

  • Integrate early with design teams to make data driven decisions on DFM and negotiate design trades throughout all phases of the project. 

  • Be able to communicate DFM needs cross functionally with both operations and Engineering to find best total solution for the project.  

  • Support strategicsupplier bring up, training, qualification activities, and technical issue resolution.  

  • Design and implement assembly fixtures and tooling. Starting at initial concept/ideation to support engineering and pilot builds, to transfer to production.  

  • Lead and support pilot builds to support engineering and pre-production builds.  

  • Develop manufacturing work instructions, assembly procedures, process specifications, and training materials.  

  • Establish process controls and manufacturing qualification plans for critical assembly operations.  

  • Investigate and resolve production issues using structured root cause analysis methodologies.  

  • Conduct time studies, capacity analyses, line balancing activities, and manufacturing throughput improvements.  

  • Mentor junior manufacturing engineers and technicians. 

  

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • 7+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace, telecommunications, defense, electronics, or related high-tech industries.  

  • Experience supporting the manufacture of RF products, antennas, communication systems, or other high-frequency electronic assemblies 

  • Knowledge of RF assembly best practices including cable routing, connector installation, shielding, grounding, torque control, and ESD protection.  

  • Experience developing manufacturing processes for low-volume/high-mix and production-scale environments.  

  • Strong understanding of GD&T, engineering drawings, and tolerance analysis.  

  • Hands-on experience with fixture design, tooling development, and manufacturing equipment implementation.  

  • Able to balance playing nice with others while standing your ground when negotiatingDFM and design trades 

  • Experience supporting NPI programs from prototype through production release.  

  • Strong working knowledge of PLM, ERP, and document control systems.  

  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks or comparable mechanical design software.  

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead cross-functional technical initiatives.  

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. 

  

NICE TO HAVE:  

  • Experience manufacturing phased-array antennas, SATCOM systems, RF communication products, or aerospace electronics. 

  • Strong understanding of statistical methods, Design of Experiments (DOE), and tolerance analysis as a function of mechanical and RF interactions.  

  • Familiarity with automated assembly systems, robotics, or advanced manufacturing technologies.  

  • Experience working directly with overseas suppliers and contract manufacturers.  

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.  

  • Experience implementing MES, traceability, and manufacturing data collection systems. 

  

EDUCATION 

  • Bachelordegree in MechanicalEngineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related engineering discipline required. 

  

COMPENSATION 

Kymeta is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. In the spirit of pay transparency, we have determined the salary range for this position to be $145,000 - $185,000. This is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would be atypical, in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. Compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to: skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and geography. The total compensation package for this position includes an annual target bonus of 10%, stock options, and benefits listed below. We believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer.
