Description

I - Job Purpose and Summary:

Responsible for planning, coordination and execution of Extrusion activities and providing guidance and direction to the Extrusion team. Perform supervisory duties when Shift Production Manager is not available.


II - Key Accountabilities:

HSE: Promote a safe work environment at all times through the adherence to all PGP’s Health & Safety and Environmental policies and procedures as well as to all relevant California OSHA regulations in order to achieve ZERO workplace incidents and injuries. Additionally, the Extrusion Lead assists with incident investigations to ensure safety and compliance within the production environment.


Food Safety & Quality: Promote exceptional food safety and product quality standards at all times through the adherence to, and improvement of, GMP and food safety and quality policies and standards, in order to have highest quality product for external customers.


Production Activities: Ensure products are manufactured according to specification. Ensure that production throughput rates are met. Ensure that all tools and equipment are available, safe and ready to use. Minimize change over times, sanitation times and unplanned downtime to increase equipment utilization. Ability to operate all 3 extrusion lines and fill in as needed. Delegate work for employees when needed. Responsible for performing sanitation and cleaning of equipment.


Record Management: Maintain and control necessary records of product and material. Complete inventory control documentation clearly and accurately. Responsible for filling out set up sheets required for that day’s production run.


Problem Solving/Reporting/Continuous Improvement: Promptly notify Shift Production Manager of any difficulties that he/she is not able to solve, and which would impair product quality or machine efficiency. Collect, maintain, audit and report data related to production, quality and safety. Identify areas for improvement and participate in CI projects with Shift Production Manager.


Training & Development: Participate in all trainings related to his/her job in order to gain knowledge/skills/abilities needed for exceptional performance. Responsible for training Extrusion employees.

Requirements

III - Job Requirements (Required and Preferred):


Education: High School diploma or equivalent


Related Experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience in Extrusion (food or food related manufacturing preferred) or 2 years lead/supervisory experience

Technical Skills: ERP transactions, touch screen tablets/PLC, basic math skills, use of pneumatic and small hand tools, basic mechanical troubleshooting, Forklift and Aerial Lift, Lock out tag out (LOTO) system, confined space entry experience


Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Forklift and Aerial Lift, OSHA 30, CPR, AED and First Aid


Language(s): Fluency in English - required; Fluency in Spanish - preferred


IV - Work/Employment Conditions and Other Requirements:


Work Environment: This job operates in a manufacturing warehouse environment. This role routinely uses manufacturing equipment. The environment is hot, cold, wet, dusty and loud. Must be able to don personal protective equipment on the manufacturing floor (hearing protection, hard hat, safety glasses, beard/hair nets, safety shoes).

Manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, noise, heat, cold, slippery and wet conditions.


Physical and Sensory Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms overhead and grip; climb stairs, work from heights up to 40 feet; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move products and supplies, up to 55 pounds.


Position Type and Working Schedule: RFT - Regular Full Time, working schedule based on production demands
