About the RoleÂ
We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Mechanical/Electrical Test Technician to support the development, validation, and deployment of automated systems and electromechanical products. This role is critical in building, fabricating, debugging, and testing complex electromechanical equipment used in advanced manufacturing and field environments.Â
You will work closely with Automation Engineers, Controls Engineers, and Manufacturing teams to build prototypes, validate systems, and support early field deployments. This is a highly practical role for someone who enjoys both fabricating and troubleshooting — someone equally comfortable with a welder and a wiring schematic.Â
This is a full-time, onsite position based in Davis & Woodland CA.,
Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
System Build & FabricationÂ
- Build and assemble mechanical and electro-mechanical prototypes and test fixturesÂ
- Perform mechanical modifications including drilling, cutting, welding, machining, and fittingÂ
- Assemble and integrate automation equipment including mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic subsystemsÂ
- Wire control panels and field devices per schematicsÂ
- Install sensors, actuators, motors, and motion componentsÂ
- Route and terminate cables according to industry best practicesÂ
Testing & DebuggingÂ
- Execute system-level and product validation test plansÂ
- Support bring-up of PLC-controlled and motion-controlled systemsÂ
- Troubleshoot mechanical assemblies, motors, actuators, wiring, and control componentsÂ
- Collect, record, and organize test dataÂ
- Identify root causes and implement corrective actionsÂ
Reliability & ValidationÂ
- Support reliability testing and performance characterizationÂ
- Assist in failure analysis and documentationÂ
- Verify system performance against specificationsÂ
- Provide hands-on feedback to engineering teams during design iterationsÂ
- Support outdoor testing activities and field validation effortsÂ
Documentation & Continuous ImprovementÂ
- Maintain accurate build, test, and as-built documentationÂ
- Update redlines and assembly recordsÂ
- Suggest improvements to assembly, test, and reliability processesÂ
- Support development of standardized test proceduresÂ
Minimum QualificationsÂ
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or technical certification in Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, Industrial Automation, or Mechanical Technology is a plusÂ
- 5+ years of experience working with electro-mechanical systems in automation, manufacturing, or R&D environmentsÂ
- Demonstrated experience building prototypes and test fixturesÂ
- Experience with mechanical fabrication: drilling, cutting, fitting, and basic modificationsÂ
- Experience running tests and collecting structured dataÂ
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and assembly instructionsÂ
- Experience with low voltage control systems, sensors (photoelectric, proximity, encoders), and pneumaticsÂ
- Strong troubleshooting skills across both mechanical and electrical systemsÂ
- Experience using hand tools and power tools safely and effectivelyÂ
- Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments, including around active machineryÂ
- Ability to work full-time onsite in Davis/Woodland, CAÂ
- Willingness to travel to project sites as neededÂ
- Works well within a team in a fast-paced development environmentÂ
Preferred QualificationsÂ
- Welding experience (MIG/TIG preferred)Â
- Basic machining experience (mill, lathe, drill press, etc.)Â
- Experience with PLC-based systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff, etc.)Â
- Familiarity with motion systems (servos, VFDs, linear actuators)Â
- Experience with hydraulic systemsÂ
- Experience with data logging equipment and test instrumentationÂ
- Experience supporting factory acceptance testing (FAT)Â
- Understanding of industrial safety standardsÂ
- Forklift or equipment operation experienceÂ

Compensation And Benefits
This role offers a base salary of $65,000 – $85,000 (DOE).
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within each posted range, individual pay is determined (and may be lower or higher), dependent on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
