Position Summary

Woodstock Sterile Solutions is seeking a Formulation Technician to join our team! The Formulation Technician – Level 0 is an entry-level position responsible for learning foundational BFS technology, safe equipment use, aseptic gowning, and formulation processes that support sterile manufacturing. Under the direction of the Shift Supervisor, the technician develops proficiency in tank compounding, tank sterilization, temperature-recording functions, set-up drawings, batch-record documentation, and routine formulation testing. Successful completion of training and qualification prepares the employee for advancement to Formulation Technician Level 1. This position will be scheduled for Thursday through Saturday and every other Wednesday, 5:45AM - 6:00PM, and is eligible for a $1/hour shift differential.


Key Responsibilities

  • Learn basic BFS technology and process fundamentals, including media-fill batches, line clearance, tank sterilization, and basic compounding.
  • Learn and perform daily compounding operations required to support manufacturing.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment and follow sterile gowning techniques after completing aseptic gowning certification.
  • Use tools and formulation equipment properly and safely.
  • Read and follow batch-record instructions, set-up drawings, manufacturing schedules, standard operating procedures, and equipment manuals.
  • Complete required documentation in batch records, logbooks, and forms in accordance with Good Documentation Practices.
  • Learn and perform routine pH and oxygen-content testing.
  • Perform autoclaving of formulation equipment as required.
  • Adhere to controlled documentation, cGMP requirements, safety expectations, housekeeping standards, and applicable manufacturing procedures.
  • Maintain the effectiveness of Quality System components relevant to the position.
  • Identify, evaluate, manage, and communicate risks to help ensure product quality.
  • Communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and management and work collaboratively across departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED.

Knowledge and Skills

•    Demonstrated basic mathematical ability.

•    Well organized and detail and multi-task oriented.

•    Excellent documentation skills.

•    Should be familiar with cGMP and safe work practices.

•    Act ethically. 

•    Demonstrate a bias toward action.  Get things done.  

•    Demonstrated ability to read, write, and speak clear English.


Physical and Work Environment

  • Visual Acuity (20/30 corrected vision).
  • Ability to stand for up to 12 hours per day
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing ladders/steps, reaching with hands and arms, handling, grasping, reading of written documents and use of computer monitor screen, writing, talking, listening
  • Occasional walking up inclines and uneven terrain, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, turning, balancing, carrying
  • Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds
