We provide a safe and secure working environment for our staff while helping an at-risk population receive the treatment necessary for success on their road back to a healthy, productive life.

Essential Duties:

  1. Perform necessary clerical functions for the human resources office
  2. Maintain up-to-date personnel files
  3. Maintain accurate weekly and monthly reports. Coordinate payroll changes with accounting
  4. Process paperwork for terminating employees, including retirement report and forms when applicable
  5. Inform new employees of available insurance benefits, procedures, and other related information. Coordinated with insurance company regarding claims, resolution of problem cases, and other related functions
  6. Maintain the chronological training log and individual training records for all employees
  7. Receive visitors and telephone calls; handle routine matters personally and direct non-routine business to proper staff for consideration
  8. Type reports, maintain records and files.
  9. Maintain updated files on employee service awards and coordinate with warden on presentation of awards
  10. Provide follow-up correspondence to applicants and agencies regarding employment status
  11. Assist the manager, human resources in the advertisement of all open positions with job bid program, state employment department, local newspaper advertising and other appropriate recruitment sources
  12. Ensure all new hire information and other personnel changes are entered into the computer and proper notification forwarded to payroll and ensure adequate and up-to-date personnel records are maintained
  13. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed
  14. Maintain accountability of inmates and property; adhere to safety practices

Education and experience requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years clerical or related experience required
  • Human Resources experience preferred
  • Valid driver's license in the state of Mississippi or Louisiana with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Post Hire Requirements

  • Must successfully complete all annual in-service requirements.
