As a technical resource within the Maintenance Department, you will combine advanced mechanical maintenance, welding/fabrication, hydraulics, pneumatics, precision alignment, equipment installation, and reliability practices with basic electrical troubleshooting to maximize equipment uptime. Additionally, you will mentor developing maintenance personnel, support continuous improvement initiatives, and assist in executing planned outages and capital projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mechanical Maintenance: Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, and maintain heavy industrial equipment including pellet mills, hammermills, conveyors (drag, screw, auger), bucket elevators, rotary valves, gearboxes, pumps, fans, blowers, shafts, bearings, and material handling systems.

  • Systems Troubleshooting: Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on mechanical power transmission, hydraulic, pneumatic, and lubrication systems.

  • Welding & Fabrication: Use MIG, TIG, Stick, and oxy-fuel cutting equipment for structural and precision welding to repair, modify, or fabricate replacement parts, guards, brackets, piping, and platforms.

  • Precision Alignment: Install and commission new equipment and production lines using laser alignment equipment and other precision measuring instruments.

  • Reliability & Diagnosis: Identify recurring failures and assist with Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to improve equipment reliability and minimize maintenance costs.

  • Basic Electrical Support: Safely troubleshoot basic industrial electrical systems, motors, motor controls, sensors, and automated equipment, coordinating with Electricians when necessary.

  • Documentation & Systems: Read blueprints, fabrication drawings, P&IDs, and basic electrical schematics. Accurately document work orders and maintenance history within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Leadership & Mentorship: Coach, mentor, and provide technical guidance to less experienced maintenance staff, promoting quality workmanship and a strict culture of safety.

Job Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED (Required). Technical degree or vocational training in Industrial Maintenance, Millwright Technology, Welding Technology, or a related field is highly preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing, processing, or heavy industrial environment.

  • Technical Skills: Proven experience in advanced mechanical maintenance, precision shaft alignment, welding/fabrication, hydraulics, and pneumatics.

  • Electrical Knowledge: Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems with the ability to safely troubleshoot basic electrical components.

  • Equipment Operation: Proficiency operating welding equipment, fabrication machinery, forklifts, aerial lifts, rigging equipment, and overhead cranes.

  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills to work independently and collaborate with Operations and Engineering teams.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, continuous manufacturing environment.

  • An absolute commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and a plant culture that prioritizes Safety and Quality over Quantity.

  • Work is performed in a heavy industrial manufacturing facility with exposure to dust, noise, vibrations, heat, moving mechanical equipment, and varying weather conditions.

  • Requires standing, walking, climbing ladders, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and working in elevated or confined spaces.
