Job Summary

The Business Office Representative is the key contact for patients visiting Internal Medicine. The incumbent greets patients, processes forms and paperwork, and handles financial arrangements.  Provides clerical support, performs extensive scheduling duties and serves as liaison between patient and medical staff.  
Performs data entry, and other job-related duties.


Duties & Responsibilities

Obtains patient registration information upon initial telephone contact.
Greets and processes patients entering Internal Medicine.
Performs discharge functions, including scheduling of multiple physician appointments, 
Manages patient data, charts and files with patient financial process to ensure payment of services provided.

Assists with patient financial process to ensure payment of services provided.
Provides clerical support to department as needed.
Protects and preserves patient rights to confidentiality.
Performs other job-related duties as required or requested.


Requirements

Associates degree or at least two years equivalent experience in a health care environment.  Experience required in PATCOM, IDX knowledge helpful.  Must be familiar with medical office procedures and medical terminology.  Knowledge of word processing required and other computer applications highly desirable.  Must have excellent secretarial, interpersonal and communications skills, be proficient in the English language.
