Position Summary: Dietary Aides play a vital part in enhancing the daily lives of our residents by assisting with food preparation, serving nutritious meals, and maintaining a clean, welcoming dining environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare and serve meals, snacks, and beverages in accordance with specific dietary guidelines, tray cards, and established facility protocols. Ensure accurate portion control and strict adherence to specialized, therapeutic, or texture-modified diets (e.g., pureed, low-sodium, diabetic). Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen, dining area, and dishwashing station in compliance with Rhode Island Department of Health and federal regulations. Wash and store dishes, utensils, and culinary equipment properly. Handle, date, and store food properly to meet all safety and sanitation standards. Assist with inventory monitoring, stocking pantry supplies, and proper waste disposal. Communicate warmly and effectively with residents, families, and staff regarding dietary preferences and needs. Qualifications High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. Prior experience in food service, institutional dining, or a healthcare/skilled nursing facility is preferred. Knowledge of therapeutic diets, food handling protocols, and safety standards. ServSafe Certification or a Rhode Island Food Safety Manager Certification is a strong plus. Ability to read, understand, and accurately follow recipe instructions, diet orders, and safety labels. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient and empathetic approach toward elderly and rehabilitating residents. Must successfully pass a standard background check and meet all state health and immunization requirements for healthcare workers in Rhode Island. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the facility.
