Orthopedics Spine Clinical Specialist
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced (3-5 years) and compassionate clinical professional to join our specialized orthopedic spine clinic. You will serve as a primary liaison between patients and our spine team, managing the continuum of care from initial clinical evaluations and diagnostics to pre-operative preparation and post-operative recovery.Â

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Diagnostics
- Room patients, obtain detailed histories, and record chief complaints, prioritizing patients with acute and chronic back or neck pain.
- Measure and record vital signs, neurological baselines, and evaluate patient mobility and functional status.
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers with in-office procedures, including joint or trigger point injections and suture/staple removal.
- Manage wound care, apply and remove casts, splints, and bracing systems (duties vary based on licensure).Â
Pre- & Post-Operative Coordination
- Educate patients on complex spinal conditions, surgical risks, and post-operative care plans, including movement restrictions and physical therapy protocols. [
- Coordinate pre-operative clearances, diagnostic imaging (X-rays, MRIs, CTs), and surgical scheduling with local hospitals.Â
- Review discharge instructions with patients, ensuring they understand medication management, red-flag symptoms, and follow-up appointments.Â
Administrative & Triage
- Triage incoming clinical phone calls and portal messages, assessing pain levels and neurological changes to determine urgency.
- Accurately document all care, assessments, and patient communications in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
- Assist with prior authorizations for medications, spinal injections, and specialized durable medical equipment (DME).Â
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing (RN/LPN) or medical assisting (CMA/RMA) program.
- Experience: 3-5 years of direct clinical experience, with a strong preference for background in orthopedics, neurosurgery, or spine care
- Certifications: Active, unencumbered state license (RN or LPN) or Medical Assistant certification (AAMA, AMT). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.Â
- Skills: Proficiency in EMR software (such as Epic or similar systems), advanced knowledge of musculoskeletal/spinal anatomy, and exceptional patient communication skills.Â
- Must be able to life up to 50lbs.
