 The Family Health Center of Worcester,located at 26 Queen Street is seeking a General Dentist with Advanced Training in Exodontia, or an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon to perform simple and complex surgical extractions and other surgical procedures. The oral surgery provider will prioritize patient comfort and minimize trauma to surrounding tissues during procedures. Oral surgery services at the Family Health Center of Worcester are provided without IV Sedation or General Anesthesia.  

Core Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Simple and Surgical Extractions: Perform routine and complex tooth removals for registered patients of Family Health Centers Dental program. Exodontia is the primary service delivered by Family Health Center’s oral surgery provider. 
  • Anesthesia Management: Limited administration of local anesthesia in a community health center/ ambulatory care setting.  
  • Other Limited Oral Surgery: alveoplasty, biopsy, limited bone grafting pre-prosthetically in conjunction with on-site prosthodontic care. 
  • Urgent and emergency care including incision and drainage, assessment of traumatic injuries, intraoral abscesses, facial swellings, and pain.  
  • Diagnostic Assessment: Evaluates patient conditions using dental imaging to identify tooth position and potential complications. 
  • Oral Pathology: provides assessment and services within scope 

 

Pre- and Post-Operative Care: 

Conducts initial consultations, develops surgical treatment plans, and provides patients with detailed recovery instructions. 

Key Qualifications/ Credentials 

  • Preferred Education: A doctoral degree (DDS or DMD) from a U.S. accredited dental school, followed by specialized residency training in oral surgery preferred. 
  • Board certification in oral and maxillofacial surgery preferred but not required. 
  • INBDE required for graduates of non- US schools.  
  • Clinical Experience in Oral Surgery: 3-5 years in USA, after residency. 
  • Licensure: A current, valid state dental license in good standing required. Must be eligible for Massachusetts Licensure Massachusetts, Controlled Substance Registration, and DEA Registration. Compensation is determined by date of licensure.
