Summer, Seasonal Maintenance Support

Description

Worcester Academy seeks candidates for the temporary position of Summer Seasonal Maintenance Support. Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, the candidate will perform routine manual maintenance operations including but not limited to; grounds and green space maintenance, event operations and set-up, painting, trash removal and other work assigned. All work is performed on the campus of Worcester Academy, often outdoors, in all types of weather. 

30 hours 8am – 2:30pm, Flexible 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY OBJECTIVES 

· Responsible for completing work orders or verbal assignments as assigned. 

· Perform general landscaping duties and assist with special summer projects. 

· Removal of trash and rubbish from assigned areas.

· Perform routine custodial and housekeeping tasks: sweep, mop, vacuum, dust. 

· Maintain clean work environment during assignment and thorough clean-up after completion.

· Perform manual labor including moving heavy objects, assembling furniture, general repairs.

· Operate light equipment such as medium size hand mower, weed trimmer. 

· Report campus repair needs as they arise. 

· Ability to move, load, unload supplies between buildings or within rooms using hand truck.

· Ability to work in a professional, friendly and courteous manner. 

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES 

· Must be able to communicate effectively in English (both verbally and in writing). 

· Ability to work in a professional, courteous and friendly manner. 

· Ability to perform manual tasks requiring some physical exertion. 

· Ability to accept supervision/guidance. 

· Having a valid Massachusetts Driver’s License is preferred.

· Must be punctual and be able to follow both written and oral instruction. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

· Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds. 

· Ability to stand for long periods of time. 

· Ability to squat, kneel, lift and bend repetitively and incrementally throughout a scheduled shift. 

· Ability to navigate a walking campus in all forms of weather conditions.
