Golf Starter/Ranger

POSITION SUMMARY

The Plantation at Ponte Vedra Beach is seeking a Golf Starter/Ranger to provide Members and Guests with friendly, prompt and courteous service as they get started both on the range, begin play on time and throughout the day on the golf course.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Record each group and individual that heads out on the golf course
• Welcome each golfer to the tee/golf course
• Ride the golf course regularly to monitor play
• Be able to keep track of start, turn, and stop times of each group on the golf course

• Set up starter/ranger cart for day
• Keep cart fresh with supplies (tees, scorecards, pencils, yardage books)
• Keep up with daily golf events and playdays
• Keep current and updated copy of tee sheet
• Maintain starters record on the first tee
• Asses each groups needs on the first tee
• Go through course introduction with each group as needed
• Keep cart barn aware of driving range condition and needs
• Pair up singles and twosomes when possible
• MAINTAIN PACE OF PLAY ON GOLF COURSE
• Keep accurate records of turn and finish times with each group
• Keep golf staff informed of any potential problems on golf course
• Communicate with each group of golfers on a regular basis

• Perform other duties as required

REQUIREMENTS:

• Flexible availability including days, weekends and holidays
• Must be able to clearly communicate Member needs to other Team Members
• Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 70 lbs
• Ability to safely operate a golf cart and have a Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
• Must be a team player with a positive attitude

 LANGUAGE SKILLS 

• The ability to speak English is necessary to converse with our members and guests.  Proper diction is valued to maintain the ambiance of high-level service to our members.
• The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, managers and members is important.

REASONING ABILITY: 

It is necessary to have the ability to solve practical problems that may arise. Our team members must have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to lift and carry up to approximately 50 pounds and occasionally up to 70 pounds.  The Team Member may be required to spend long hours on their feet.

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member could be exposed to outside weather conditions, if providing service during an outside event.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with increased levels during events.
