We're looking for a dependable Transport Driver / Production Operator to join our team. This is a hybrid role: when farm equipment needs to be moved, hauled, or loaded/off-loaded between farm locations, you'll serve as our transport driver; the rest of the time, you'll work as a Production Operator supporting field cultivation, irrigation, equipment operation, and general farm maintenance. What You'll Be Responsible For Transport / Driving Duties Safely operate company vehicles (CDL-required trucks/trailers) to haul, load, and off-load farm equipment and machinery between farm locations Independently load and unload agricultural equipment (tractors, mowers, sprayers, implements, and attachments) onto/off trailers using ramps, chains, and ratchet straps, without assistance Properly secure equipment and loads in compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations; lowboy/RGN (double-drop) trailer experience for hauling heavy equipment is a plus Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections Perform routine checks on truck and trailer equipment; report mechanical issues promptly Coordinate scheduling and timing of equipment transport with the Farm Manager and production staff Maintain a clean driving record and comply with all company driving qualification standards Production Operator Duties Prepare soil and fields for turf grass cultivation Operate and maintain farm equipment and machinery (e.g., mowers, sprayers, forklifts) Care for property by mowing fields, repairing yard areas, and pulling and discarding weeds as necessary Irrigate turf using hand lines, wheel lines, or automated systems Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides as directed by management Repair and maintain farm structures and equipment Report any issues to a supervisor or higher-level employee Perform other related duties as assigned What We Expect Ability to work independently and manage time across two role functions Strong communication skills to coordinate scheduling between transport and production duties Dependable, safety-focused, and detail-oriented Willingness to work outdoors and on the road in varying weather conditions Qualifications Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL A) required Must meet FMCSA qualification requirements, including current medical certification (DOT physical) Must satisfy all company driving qualification standards, including a safe and acceptable driving record (MVR review) 1+ year(s) of experience hauling and securing heavy equipment or trailers required Strong familiarity with agricultural equipment (tractors, mowers, sprayers, implements) for solo loading, unloading, and hauling; lowboy/RGN trailer experience preferred Knowledge of load securement, DOT regulations, and hours-of-service rules High school diploma or equivalent (preferred) Bilingual (preferred) Physical Requirements & Work Environment Combination of on-road driving and outdoor, physically demanding farm work in varying weather conditions Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 40+ lbs regularly (pipe sections, sod rolls, equipment components) Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting; frequent climbing into/out of truck cabs and onto equipment/trailers Manual dexterity and physical stamina to operate machinery, secure loads, and perform field labor Exposure to dirt, dust, chemicals, loud machinery, and highway/road driving conditions May involve long hours, early mornings, and weekend shifts during peak seasons or transport needs Ability to pass and maintain DOT medical certification What We Offer Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off through accrued vacation Why Join Tater Farms?
