Dental Assistant in Training

Description

To provide on-site training to staff and to dental interns who are in the process of becoming a licensed dental assistant through on-the-job training. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The Dental Assistant Trainer will train on the following duties:

· How to provide clinical assisting

· How to take radiographs

· How to chart patient periodontal and clinical history

· How to properly maintain instruments and machinery 

· Proper cleaning and sterilization of instruments and handpieces

· How to inventory supplies and order when necessary, maintaining accurate record

· Accompany patients to/from waiting area. 

· How to maintain handpiece records and send for repair when necessary

· How to maintain MSDS record book

· How to maintain card catalog and emergency kit.

· Water line maintenance and flushing as needed.

· Operatory infection control

· How to utilize patient mouth rinse prior to any procedures.

· How to verify patient’s medications and health history, advise dentist.

· How to verify lab cases are in and on site for the day’s work this includes implant tools.

· How to pack and receive lab cases 

· How to prepare exam rooms for next day’s work.

· Proper operatory set-up for various procedures

· Proper use of materials and storage, how to mix materials/caps etc.

· Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

36 hours per week

Requirements

Required: held a MA Dental Assistant license in the previous 5 years, Radiology certification or course that meets MA requirements, knowledge of current requirements for sterilization and maintenance.
