Description

Position summary

Pull the upper over the last and set the shape of the boot to the master sample.

Essential functions

  • Mount the insole and the last. Align the upper to the last centerline.
  • Operate pulling-over, toe lasting, side lasting and heel seat lasting machines.
  • Set tension, wipe and heat so the upper conforms without wrinkling, over-stretching or tearing.
  • Inspect every lasted pair against its mate. A boot is only correct as a pair.
  • Pull lasts after set and return them to inventory in size order.
  • Report machine drift immediately. A lasting machine out of adjustment ruins a lot, not a pair.

Requirements

  • Physical strength and hand control. This is the most physically demanding station in the plant.
  • An eye for symmetry and shape.

Physical requirements and work environment

Reasonable accommodation is available to qualified individuals with disabilities. This department carries the highest sustained force and repetitive-motion load in the plant.

How performance is measured
