Buyer

A successful candidate will have experience with the following:

  • Experience in developing and executing commodity plans while minimizing costs.
  • A solid record of success in sourcing a variety of materials including but not limited to aluminum, electronic components, and a variety of heavy-duty truck components.   
  • A strong record of success with multiple level cost negotiations covering a wide range of commodities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications (ex., Word, Excel, Outlook) as well as AS400 or related MRP/ERP systems    
  • Experience with ERP systems and their intercompany interactions. 
  • Strong verbal and written skills that foster open communication with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent organizational skills that establish priorities, identify, and set goals to meet deadlines.
  • A solid record of maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skill to establish priorities, identify and set goals to meet deadlines.

 

Duties associated with this role include but are not limited to:

  • Resolve conflicts that arise with the supplier, i.e., late deliveries, cost increases, and quality.
  • Manage the sourcing of purchased components, sub-assemblies, and other assigned commodities for the best price, quality, and delivery.
  • Responsible for item master inputs as it relates to both item and supplier including pricing changes and vendor contact information. 
  • Developing and executing commodity plans that maximize value and minimize costs.
  • Work with HME's Supply Chain Team to achieve their departmental goals i.e., part shortages, cost savings, etc.… 

 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2-4 years of experience in developing and executing commodity plans while minimizing costs
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skills to establish priorities, identify and set goals to meet deadlines
  • Willingness to learn and take direction in developing your plan/focus
  • Experience in developing and executing action plans while minimizing costs. Proficiency with Microsoft applications (ex., Word, Excel, Outlook) as well as AS400 or related MRP/ERP systems
  • Strong verbal and written skills foster open communication with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent organization skills that establish priorities, identify, and set goals to meet deadlines.

 

Physical demands and activities – general office

•    General Physical Requirements and Physical Activities:  generally sedentary work; seated at desk for extended periods while talking on telephone or performing work on computer; standing, bending, reaching above shoulder level, walking, occasional lifting and carrying (up to15 lbs.), frequent near vision for reading and computer work; repetitive use of hands, fingers, wrists for keyboard and other business machine usage; occasional stressful conditions.

 •  Working Conditions: Approximately 75%-90% of work is performed in an enclosed office, cubicle, or open workstation under conditions that can be described as “normal office environment”, with controlled climate and minimal exposure to health or safety hazards; occasionally work requires presence on plant manufacturing area.  When in plant manufacturing area, there is possible exposure to:

 

noise     -     loud, sharp, extended, impulse; up to, and occasionally exceeding, 85dBA (noise levels may  

                     require use of hearing protection),

hazards – electric current; oils and lubricants; moving mechanical parts; chemical cleaners and solvents;

                   sharp edges; airborne dust, metal and fibrous shavings; intense light from welding; motorized   

                   forklift truck traffic; overhead crane operation; seasonal temperature variations (ex., high 

                   temperature and humidity during summer months).
