JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Automation Machine Builder to join our team in Wyoming, Michigan. Â In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, integrating, and troubleshooting custom automated machinery and systems used in manufacturing environments. Â The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical and electrical background, as well as a working knowledge of industrial robotics and how they integrate into automation systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assemble mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and robotic components to build custom automation machines according to engineering drawings and schematics.
- Integrate and support robotic systems (e.g., FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa, etc.) within automated machinery.
- Install wiring, sensors, actuators, motors, robotic end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), and control panels.
- Test,debug, andfine-tune machines and robotic cells to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, electricians, controls technicians, and programmers during design and build phases.
- Modify mechanical and robotic assemblies based on performance testing and engineering input.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Document build processes and provide feedback for product and process improvements.
- Occasionally assist with installation and commissioning of machines and robotics at customer sites.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GEDrequired;technical certification or associate degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in machine building, automation systems, or industrial equipment assembly.
- Hands-on experience with industrial robotic systems (e.g., FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa) preferred.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and robotic integration principles.
- Proficientin reading and interpreting blueprints, CAD drawings, and electrical/robotic schematics.
- Familiarity with safety systems related to robotic automation (e.g., light curtains, safety relays, interlocks).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for installations or on-site support.
