Kitchen Float


Position Overview: The Kitchen Float supports Arise Café by assisting with prep, cook line, and runner duties to ensure smooth, efficient kitchen operations in a mission-driven environment.

Principal Responsibilities:


Prep Station

  • Wash, peel, and cut vegetables and fruit
  • Slice or portion meats and ingredients
  • Assemble salads, wraps, and grab-and-go items
  • Keep prep tables stocked, labeled, and clean
  • Follow food safety and sanitation procedures


Cook Line

  • Assist with preparing hot menu items
  • Cook and plate menu items to cafĂ© standards
  • Maintain cleanliness during service
  • Record temperatures daily as required
  • Report any equipment or safety issues immediately


Runner / Expo

  • Deliver food items to service window or FOH
  • Assist with plating, garnishing, and quality checks
  • Keep utensils and workstations stocked
  • Maintain clean dining/service areas
  • Support communication between front and back of house
  • Other duties as assigned


Required Knowledge, Abilities, and Working Conditions


Knowledge of: Basic food safety and sanitation practices (training provided); General kitchen workflow and organization (training provided).

 

Abilities: Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure; Strong communication and teamwork skills; Capacity to lift up to 25 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in a warm kitchen environment.

 

Working Conditions: Standard commercial kitchen setting. May require early morning, evening, or weekend hours. General exposure to kitchen equipment, heat, and food preparation materials.

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements


  • No prior kitchen experience required—training provided.
  • Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn.
  • Ability to follow food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
