Primary Duties and Responsibilities: • Perform required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew. • Use hand tools such as sledgehammers and various other equipment and instruments. • Perform duties such as installing coir matting, wooden stakes, filter fabric, safety fences, or silt fences, spreading seed or straw, or assisting other team members in setting up bypass pumps. • Successfully execute multiple tasks simultaneously and effectively communicate using hand signals. • Perform all duties in conformance with OSHA and all applicable safety regulations and standards. • Prepare worksite, load, unload, and stage construction materials Required Skills: • Must be an active listener, giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. • Must be able to speak and communicate with others to convey information effectively • Must be able to read and understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents. • Must be able to communicate effectively in writing as appropriate • Must be an active learner, demonstrating active learning Physical Requirements: • Must be able to move heavy objects and tools and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires excellent manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina. Must be able to quickly move arms and legs. • Must be able to regularly use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. • Must be able to frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift of move up to 100 pounds. • Must be able to move about on uneven terrain. Working Conditions: • Requires working in outside weather conditions and being frequently exposed to wet and humid conditions, extreme heat (above 90 degrees F) and extreme cold (below 32 degrees F). • Requires working in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions • Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable. • Requires working in muddy ground conditions. • Requires regular work near moving mechanical parts and vibration in a loud environment. Other Requirements: • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent • Valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to Wildlands’ insurance carrier Preferred: • Experience with GPS Machine Grade Control is preferred • Specific knowledge of methods, materials, and tools used in stream restoration and site preparation is preferred • Trade school is preferred Hours and Travel: • Full-time, non-exempt. This position frequently requires overtime. • Frequent out-of-town travel is required.
