The Director Operations Strategy partners closely with laboratory leadership, IT teams, and operational stakeholders to identify opportunities for innovation and translate them into scalable, high‑impact product enhancements. This role requires a strong ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on execution, ensuring that product decisions are grounded in data, user insights, and organizational priorities. The individual in this role will champion continuous improvement, foster alignment across diverse teams, and ensure that product initiatives are delivered with excellence and measurable value. By driving the evolution of key laboratory informatics products, this position directly contributes to Sonora Quest’s mission of delivering reliable, efficient, and patient‑centered diagnostic service!

Leader with background in Process Engineering, Project Management, or Lean/Six Sigma, responsible for seeking out potential system improvements, determining and evaluating new processes, implementing new processes, and tracking and analyzing data to improve operational performance.  Owns and leads major system-wide projects designed to improve standardization, create efficiencies, establish best practices, and support innovation.  Reports to the COO of the respective area and must work collaboratively with others within LSA/SQL, Banner Health, and Quest Diagnostics, among others.

Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Use of personal influence to garner support across all customers   
  • Understanding of organization and operational workflows
  • Understanding of laboratory regulatory practices
  • Ability to build and work within high functioning teams

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, health care administration or related field.
  • Four (4) years’ experience as a department supervisor or manager or the equivalent.
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures of different software programs.
  • Demonstrated advanced oral/written communication, analytical, and strategic skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously. 
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license and be eligible for coverage under the company auto insurance policy.
     

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in Management Engineer, MBA, MPH or related field
  • Degree in Engineering, Business or Healthcare related field
  • Black Belt/Green Belt/LEAN Certification.    
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist under ASCP, NCA, or equivalent as defined under CLIA ’88 regulations.     
  • Additional related education and/or experience
