Job Summary: Responsible for the coordination and provision of the appropriate support functions for anesthesiologists in all clinical practice settings throughout the hospital that utilize the services of an anesthesiologist.

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None.

Work Experience: 6 months - 1 year related experience. 1 year of experience in Surgical Service preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to prioritize activities in an efficient manner. Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of patient confidentiality.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Prepares and maintains anesthesia machines and equipment in Operating Room (OR). Prepares and assembles transducer lines and equipment necessary for invasive pressure monitoring as necessary or requested. Provides for the cleaning and/or decontamination of anesthesia machine, equipment and supplies after completion of a procedure. Gathers and assembles supplies for IV solutions including tubing set-up and setup of IV warming devices as necessary. Stocks anesthesia machines, drugs, drug trays, materials, supplies, and gases required for daily use. Makes continuous rounds during assigned shift to provide assistance, as directed, to anesthesiologist and nursing staff in the management of patient care. Communicates necessary information to supervisor, physicians and other health care team members. Ensures availability of required supplies and appropriate processing of reusable items by performing regular inventory of supplies. Communicates need for ordering of necessary supplies per department standard. Serves as a preceptor and assists in orientation for new personnel. Performs other duties as assigned and assists the RN in duties directly supervised by the RN.

Decision Making: Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established.

Working Relationships: Coordinates activities of others (does not supervise). Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal/external customers. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
