Role Purpose

Accountable for one or more components of the education and compliance of health, safety, and fire protection programs designed to protect Brand reputation, Guests, Colleagues and assets from a range of risks. Conduct Risk and Fire Protection reviews for Hotels and IHG Offices. Provide consulting service and conduct training for Colleagues designed to improve awareness and prevent loss. As a member of the Risk Management team, may assist in the continuous improvement/ development of standards, materials and management systems to provide comprehensive support and optimal global consistency.

As an FLS Specialist, you will support the hotel in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our guests, colleagues, visitors, and assets. You will be responsible for monitoring Fire Life Safety systems, supporting emergency preparedness, and ensuring compliance with hotel standards and applicable local regulations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and enforce Fire Life Safety standards in accordance with hotel policies and local regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of fire detection, alarm, and suppression systems, including fire alarms, extinguishers, sprinklers, fire pumps, emergency exits, and related safety equipment.
  • Ensure Fire Life Safety equipment and systems are properly maintained, tested, and operational.
  • Monitor the main Fire Alarm Panel (FAP), repeaters, and associated fire alarm systems and promptly report any faults or abnormalities.
  • Conduct routine Fire Life Safety inspections and identify potential hazards, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are followed up.
  • Support and conduct fire drills, evacuation exercises, and other emergency preparedness activities.
  • Train and support colleagues on fire prevention, emergency procedures, evacuation protocols, and the proper use of firefighting equipment.
  • Maintain accurate Fire Life Safety records, inspection logs, testing documentation, and certification records.
  • Support the investigation and reporting of fire, safety, and emergency-related incidents and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and other hotel departments regarding the maintenance and rectification of Fire Life Safety systems.
  • Support compliance with IHG Fire Life Safety requirements, hotel procedures, and applicable local authority requirements.
  • Respond and provide support to Hotel Operations as needed in mitigating the effects of serious incidents, crisis and/or violations.

     

Key Skills & Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and work related experience.
  • Certified/approved as an FLS Specialist in accordance with applicable Jordanian government requirements.
  • 2 to 4 years of progressive work Relevant experience in Fire Life Safety, preferably within hospitality industry.

Technical Skills, Knowledge and Other skills

  • Professional English, both written and spoken.
  • Strong administrative, reporting, documentation, and follow-up skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hospitality fire protection controls to protect people, property and IHG’s trusted reputation.
  • Demonstrated proficiency reviewing architectural plans and drawings.
  • Demonstrated knowledge inspecting fire detection and suppression systems.
  • Applies logical and scientific thinking to wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Demonstrates clear and concise communication skills including adapting both verbal and written communication to the needs and level of the user.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office suite, Windows, Internet and email.
