Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY

The Clinical Educator supports the clinical, professional, and educational development of nursing and interdisciplinary staff during varying hours, including 2 scheduled evening operational hours. Under the direction of the Director of Education, the Clinical Educator assists in orientation, competency validation, staff support, clinical coaching, simulation activities, and educational initiatives that promote safe, evidence-based, patient-centered care.

 

This role serves as an educational resource and leadership presence during evening hours, helping to strengthen staff confidence, clinical performance, communication, teamwork, and regulatory readiness throughout the organization.

 

The Clinical Educator will be responsible for working an on-site schedule with a minimum of 5 days/week that may include weekends.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and present lesson plans for educational programs as follows:
    • Interactive lecture
    • Simulation-based learning
    • Scenario/case-based learning
    • Skills validation
    • Role-play and debriefing
    • E-learning and blended learning platforms
  • Conduct in-services, staff development programs and continuing education programs.
  • Evaluate and report the outcome of educational activities.
  • Conduct Department of Nursing Clinical Orientation.
  • Record orientation and continuing education programs as per departmental policy.
  • Provide instruction and remedial education to staff.
  • Assist in the development of educational calendar.
  • Design performance checklists and document performance concerns.
  • Perform nursing department clinical competency checks.
  • Operate audio-visual equipment.
  • Utilize Microsoft office software in the development of educational materials.
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary departments to support educational and operational goals.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and survey readiness activities.
  • Utilize Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as HealthStream to support education tracking and compliance.
  • Serve as clinical resource to staff members, residents and families.
  • Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by your supervisor, department director, and/or administrator.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license & (RN) Registration Certificate in New York State.• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; MSN required; DNP preferred.• Current CPR certification required.• PALS certification preferred.

Experience

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years clinical nursing experience required.
  • Pediatric, long-term care, rehabilitation, or complex care experience preferred.
  • Prior education, preceptor, charge nurse, or leadership experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in facilitating education programs in a clinical setting
  • Demonstrated ability to design and interpret a needs assessment to identify and plan educational program
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a lesson plan, prepare test items and summarize program assessment.

Employee Requirements:

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently.
  • Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies.
  • Must meet the general health requirements set fourth by the policies of this Center which includes a medical and physical examination.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of fifty (35) pounds.
  • Perform tasks that may involve exposure to the resident’s blood/body fluids.
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents, if necessary.

Working Conditions:

  • Will work in a well-lighted and ventilated area.
  • Will be subject to frequent interruptions.
  • May be asked to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
  • Position primarily supports evening educational operations with an anticipated schedule of  approximately two (2) evening shifts per week, with flexibility based on departmental and organizational needs.
  • Additional flexibility may be required to support orientation programs, mandatory education, mock codes, competency validation, regulatory readiness activities, and departmental initiatives.
  • Will work in clinical and educational environments with frequent interruptions and varying operational demands.

Salary Range:

$120,000.00/Yr. To $130,000.00/Yr.
