Position Summary
The Delivery Driver is a key member of our operations team, responsible for picking customer orders in our warehouse and delivering them safely and accurately to restaurants and eateries across NYC and Westchester. Each driver is paired with a delivery assistant and is accountable for the full delivery process — from order picking through final placement of product into customers’ coolers and freezers. This is a physically demanding, customer-facing role that requires professionalism, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to service.
Starting Pay: $17.00 per hour
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Order Picking
- Accurately pick customer orders from warehouse inventory prior to each delivery route.
- Verify order accuracy against customer invoices and manifests before loading the truck.
- Organize product in the truck for efficient and damage-free delivery.
Delivery & Customer Service
- Safely operate a company delivery vehicle over assigned routes throughout NYC and Westchester County.
- Work alongside a delivery assistant to unload product and place items directly into customers’ coolers and freezers.
- Follow a provided manifest from stop to stop, adhering to scheduled delivery windows.
- Represent Brophy Brothers in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner at all customer locations.
- Collect payment from customers in the form of check or cash where required, and document accurately on customer invoices.
- Clearly indicate and report any customer returns on invoices; communicate returns to the office promptly.
Vehicle & Compliance
- Inspect vehicle before and after each shift for mechanical and safety issues; report any defects or incidents immediately.
- Comply with all applicable DOT rules and regulations governing the operation of a commercial motor vehicle.
- Drive safely and professionally in all weather conditions, including rain, snow, and extreme temperatures.
- Keep the vehicle clean, organized, and properly maintained.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license (Class C or higher); clean driving record with no more than 6 penalty points within the last 3 years.
- Ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card and pass a Department of Transportation Road test.
- No recent moving or driving violations.
- Prior experience as a delivery driver or in a warehouse/distribution environment preferred.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
- Willingness to submit to background check and drug screening.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Self-motivated, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a two-person team.
Physical Demands
This is a physically demanding position. Candidates must be able to:
- Continuously stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, and crouch throughout the shift.
- Lift products weighing up to 75 lbs. repeatedly; occasionally handle items exceeding 100 lbs. with assistance.
- Push and pull a loaded hand truck or dolly ranging from 100 lbs. up to 400 lbs., multiple times per shift.
- Enter and exit the delivery truck box 15–25 times per day.
- Work in refrigerated environments (coolers and freezers) as well as outdoor temperatures, in conditions ranging from approximately 25°F to 100°F.
- Drive for extended periods and navigate busy urban delivery routes.
- Work overtime as needed, including early morning start times to support restaurant delivery schedules.
