Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, the Director of Nursing for Medical/Surgical and Telemetry Units is responsible to manage and supervise the assigned patient care areas on a 24-hour basis ensuring the effective delivery of clinical patient care and compliance with administrative budgets and clinical policies and procedures. This position also has 24-hour responsibility for off-shift and weekend Administrative Supervisors. Direct reporting relationship for two Clinical Nurse Managers, one on each inpatient nursing unit.

Key responsibilities include:
Manage, supervise and coordinate delivery of patient care for assigned patient care areas on a 24 hour basis. Actively round on and interact with patients and families to ensure that expectations for an optimal patient experience are met
Staff unit in accordance with developed census and skill mix guidelines and in accordance with departmental budget.
Perform nursing supervision and bed management house wide. Evaluate and direct Administrative Supervisors to ensure optimal nursing care, throughput and staffing.
Accountability for the requisition, care and maintenance of unit inventory, equipment and supplies.
Establish collegial relations with all departments in support of optimal patient care and safety.
Maintain clinical competencies for assigned clinical area. Assess/coach and evaluate staff level of practice. Assist in the development and implementation of programs that foster continued clinical development.
Oversee various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, terminations and other related activities.
Maintain required unit records, reports and statistics for administrative purposes, ensure compliance with established hospital policies, procedures, objectives, quality control (POCT); PI, safety, environmental and infection control. Communicate requirements to staff, and hold staff accountable to established requirements. Coordinate the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and procedures designed to improve operational efficiency. Coordinate QC/PI activities with appropriate staff.

Salary Range: $170K-$185K
