Position Overview:

The position of the utility worker is to perform routine cleaning duties on fleet vehicles and facilities.

General Duties/Responsibilities:

Responsible for cleaning the interior and exterior of fleet vehicles daily.
Responsible for fueling and replenishing fluids on fleet vehicles daily.
Must be able to drive, maneuver, and park fleet vehicles.
Responsible for reporting and documenting all work performed.
Performs light maintenance to shop areas, fueling stations, and related facilities.
Reports any maintenance issues to Supervisor.
Effectively communicates with supervisors regarding equipment concerns and observations.
Responsible for safely performing all tasks.
Must be able to run errands as requested.
Maintains equipment and workspace safety and cleanliness.

Position Qualifications:

Requires a minimum of a High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Must have and maintain an excellent NYS Driver’s License.
Must have the ability to use all cleaning solutions and operate all equipment.
Must be able to communicate effectively.
Must know safe working practices.
Ability to work days, evenings, weekdays, weekends, holidays, and overtime hours.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

Ability to climb stairs, reach above shoulder level, walk extended distances, stand, kneel, sit for an undefined amount of time, bend, lift, push, and pull without assistance up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work in an environment with dust, fumes, exhaust, various noise levels, various temperatures, indoor and outdoor weather conditions for an undefined amount of time.
Ability to use all cleaning products identified as effective against COVID-19.
Ability to use all cleaning equipment while complying with protective equipment requirements.
Ability to read, write, and converse in English.
Must be able to work in extreme heat, cold, and in a damp environment.
Ability to physically and visually inspect equipment and fleet vehicles.
Must have strong attention to detail.
