Job DetailsJob Location: Jawonio Yonkers - Yonkers, NY 10701Position Type: Part TimeSalary Range: $18.00 - $18.00 HourlyParticipant Engagement & Transportation Aide -Yonkers, NY Position Summary The Program Assistant plays a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for program participants. This position combines direct participant support, activity coordination, meal preparation, facility upkeep, and transportation services. The ideal candidate is compassionate, dependable, and committed to enhancing the well-being and quality of life of the individuals we serve. Key Responsibilities Participant Engagement & Program Support Collaborate with the Program Coordinator to plan, organize, and facilitate social, recreational, and community-based activities for participants. Encourage participant involvement and engagement in daily programming and special events, including games, movies, and celebrations. Foster a positive, supportive environment by demonstrating compassion, respect, professionalism, and ethical behavior at all times. Build meaningful relationships with participants by actively listening, responding to their needs, and promoting inclusion and dignity. Monitor and assist with activities to ensure they are appropriate, enjoyable, and beneficial for participants. Meal Planning & Food Service Assist with menu planning and food purchasing for program meals and snacks. Prepare, cook, and serve nutritious meals in accordance with program guidelines. Maintain kitchen cleanliness and sanitation standards, including washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, and organizing supplies after meal service. Facility Maintenance & Safety Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free environment throughout the program area. Perform routine housekeeping duties, including cleaning floors, counters, and common areas. Uphold safe work practices and contribute to a secure environment for participants, staff, and visitors. Transportation Services Safely operate agency vehicles, including 14-passenger vans and buses, in accordance with assigned routes, agency procedures, and all traffic regulations. Assist participants with boarding and exiting vehicles based on individual needs and agency policies. Conduct required vehicle safety inspections and document results in maintenance logs. Ensure agency vehicles remain clean, fueled, and in safe operating condition. Promptly report vehicle maintenance concerns, malfunctions, accidents, or safety hazards to the Transportation Coordinator. Additional Responsibilities Participate in agency-sponsored events and community outings as needed. Maintain accurate records and documentation as required. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned. Ability to work in Yonkers from 12pm to 6pm, Tuesday to Friday. #INDEMPLOY Qualifications GED/High school diploma or equivalent A valid NY State Driver’s License and ability to drive and driving record acceptable for agency insurance coverage are required. Ability to drive a 14 passenger van. Willingness to prepare light meals for members and facilitating recreational and social activities at each Drop-In Center site, respectively. Compassionate, patient, and respectful approach when working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
