The Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) is a strategic executive responsible for leading enterprise-wide information technology and analytics at WellSpan Health. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the CIO ensures that technology and data-driven insights support clinical excellence, operational efficiency, business transformation and ensure enablement of WellSpan’s strategic vision and plan.

Enterprise IT Strategy

  • Develop and execute a long-term IT vision that supports WellSpan’s clinical, operational, financial, and brand goals.
  • Partner with various stakeholders to enrich then scale digital transformation initiatives, ensuring technology enhances patient care, provider efficiency, and customer experience; and WellSpan’s reputation as a value-adding partner is upheld and advanced. 
  • Deliver technology applications and hardware that are optimized to the WellSpan user. Ensure effective product management to align organization needs to software solutions. Lead by example to nurture a culture of innovation across WellSpan by evaluating emerging technologies and their ability to advance WellSpan’s goals. Ensure successful adoption of new technologies through user-focused operations.

Leadership & Governance  

  • Serve as a key member of WellSpan’s senior leadership team, participating in executive planning, IT governance, and board discussions.
  • Oversee IT Steering Committees, Analytics Steering Committees, and the WellSpan Clinical Informatics Council to align IT with clinical and business needs.
  • Lead change management efforts to drive adoption of new technologies and workflows.
  • Ensure that clinical IT and business IT remain visible in organizational planning and decision-making.

Enterprise Analytics & Data Strategy

  • Establish and lead a data-driven culture through an Analytics Center of Excellence, ensuring data is timely, accessible, useable and actionable.
  • Oversee and advance capabilities that power population health analytics, predictive modeling, and business intelligence to support clinical outcomes, cost reduction, and strategic initiatives.
  • Define and enforce data governance practices to ensure accuracy, security, and compliance.

IT Infrastructure, Security & Operations

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define and implement progressive infrastructure and hardware solutions.
  • Ensure a highly reliable, secure, and scalable IT infrastructure, supporting WellSpan’s digital operations.
  • Oversee EHR (Epic) and clinical IT systems, ensuring seamless integration and interoperability.
  •  Oversee the daily management and optimization of Oracle, ServiceNow, UKG, and other applications and systems.
  • Maintain cybersecurity resilience, ensuring compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement customer- and team member-facing digital user experiences, such as mobile apps and online portals, to enhance patient engagement and service delivery.

Talent, Culture & Financial Oversight

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Earn influence with stakeholders through exceptional service and support.
  • Plan and communicate needs and value for IT capital investments and operational budget. Work collaboratively with executive colleagues. Oversee IT budgets, vendor management, and multi-year capital planning, ensuring cost-effective technology solutions and valuable technology service delivery.
  • Promote industry best practices, benchmarking WellSpan against leading health systems and industries.

Qualifications


Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
Experience: 10+ years of progressive leadership in IT, analytics, or digital transformation in a large and complex organization.
Expertise in Healthcare IT: Strong knowledge of corporate applications, enterprise analytics, cybersecurity, AI/ML applications, and digital health innovations.
Strategic & Transformational Leadership: Proven experience in leading large-scale IT and analytics initiatives in a complex, multi-site organization.
Financial & Vendor Management: Experience managing IT budgets, vendor contracts, and enterprise technology investments.
