Description

  

Overview: The Human Resources Director provides leadership and oversight for the organization’s Human Resources functions, ensuring alignment with the JCC’s mission, values, and operational goals. This role oversees payroll, benefits, employee relations, compliance, performance management, HR systems, and employee support while supervising the HR Support Specialist.

  

General Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as a strategic partner to leadership by developing and implementing HR initiatives that support organizational goals, employee engagement, retention, and workforce planning. 
  • Participate as a member of the leadership team, including attendance at Board meetings and leadership meetings as required. 
  • Provide guidance, support, and oversight to the HR Support Specialist and other staff on HR-related matters to ensure consistency, compliance, and effective service delivery. 
  • Manage the organization’s HRIS and payroll system (Paylocity), ensuring accurate payroll processing, employee records, reporting, system maintenance, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health, retirement, and wellness plans, and serve as the primary liaison with benefit providers and employees. 
  • Oversee workers’ compensation claims management, including reporting, compliance, follow-up, and employee support throughout the process. 
  • Lead and support performance management processes, including annual evaluations, employee feedback, coaching, and development initiatives. 
  • Support recruitment and onboarding efforts by managing job postings and providing HR support to department directors throughout the hiring process as needed.
  • Oversee onboarding and orientation processes to support a positive employee experience and successful integration into the organization. 
  • Support employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, corrective action, and coaching for managers and employees. 
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and maintain/update HR policies and procedures accordingly. 
  • Monitor HR trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously improve HR processes and employee experience. 
  • Collaborate with leadership on compensation, benefits, and organizational planning initiatives. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Positively and actively promote the JCC’s mission, membership, programs, events, and charitable purpose to JCC members and the general public
  • Be familiar with the mission, vision statements, and Core Values of the JCC. Model the Core Values while working and communicating with members and staff

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required. 
  • Minimum of five years of progressive human resources management experience preferred. 
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and employee relations. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Strong interpersonal, conflict resolution and relationship-building skills. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. 
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and manage multiple projects effectively. 
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems; Paylocity experience preferred or ability to learn required.
