Driver Safety Specialist 

Full-time

York, PA 

Up to 50% travel may be required for this role.

The Driver Safety Specialist is responsible for identifying unsafe habits and behaviors and coordinating solutions through driver training and remedial training to lessen or eliminate future non-compliance or unsafe actions.  The DSS will assist to ensure organizational compliance with all DOT regulations and company policies.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding transportation and workplace safety (FMCSR,OSHA)
  • Assist with the oversight of Lytx Cameras, monitor alerts and coach drivers to aid in the reduction or preventable crashes 
  • Be able to communicate to individual / groups in a classroom setting and set up / use education tools as required, i.e. Laptop, LCD projector, handouts, maintain decorum, gain feedback and track progress
  • Performs accident/incident investigations, follow-up and closure of action items for all vehicle accidents/incidents
  • Assist with audits and inspections of the company assets and vendor practices to monitor compliance with all FMCSR requirements. 
  • Other related duties as required

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a safety & compliance role within the transportation industry
  • Experience with DOT(FMCSA), OSHA and EPA
  • Class A CDL driving experience or Trucking experience preferred 
  • Working knowledge of federal and state safety laws, particularly FMCSR & OSHA standards
  • Knowledge of Transportation of Hazardous Material Regulations
