Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) is a 10-bed intensive care unit (ICU) that provides care to critically ill medical patients 18 years and older. MICU serves as an overflow unit for the neuro patients. Procedures and care provided include, but are not limited to: invasive hemodynamic monitoring, chest tubes, venous thrombolytics, arterial alteplase, ventilator management, arterial line, tracheostomy care (acute and chronic), CRRT utilization, EKOS catheter-directed, ultrasound thrombolysis, and TPE therapy.
General Summary
Provides professional nursing care at the beginner practitioner level in accordance with the principles of patient and family-centered care based on the nursing process and according to the clinical standards of the hospital. Acts as a primary nurse for patients on the unit. Coordinates care planning with other disciplines. May require specialized skills depending on unit assignment.
