Department Summary

Trauma Surgical Intensive Care Unit (TSICU) is a 10-bed intensive care unit which provides care to critically ill trauma and surgical patients per Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation definition for adult patients (15 years of age and older). Procedures and care provided include but are not limited to: Post-operative patients requiring invasive hemodynamic monitoring/ventilatory management, antihypertensive therapy, ICP monitoring-ventriculostomy , neuro monitoring (BIS), AVM (arteriovenous malfunction), aneurysm post op care, CRRT, mechanical ventilation, and management of subdural, subarachnoid and epidural hematomas (SAH/SDH/EDH). 

 

General Summary

Provides professional nursing care in accordance with the principles of patient and family-centered care based on the nursing process and according to the clinical standards of the hospital. Acts as a primary nurse for patients on the unit. Coordinates care planning with other disciplines. May require specialized skills depending on unit assignment.
