Position Overview

Wild Birds Unlimited of Rock Hill & Indian Land, SC is seeking an experienced, results-driven Retail Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations and long-term success of two retail locations. This leadership position is responsible for driving sales growth, developing high-performing teams, managing inventory and merchandising, implementing marketing initiatives, and ensuring operational excellence across both stores.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Partner with franchise owner to establish annual sales, labor, profitability, and operational goals.
  • Drive store performance by monitoring key performance indicators and implementing action plans.
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Store Operations

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of both retail locations.
  • Provide weekly operational updates to ownership, including sales performance, staffing, marketing, and business initiatives.
  • Attend the annual Wild Birds Unlimited Franchise Enterprise Leadership Conference and Trade Show.
  • Monitor customer feedback through the Voice of the Customer program and coach teams to continuously improve the customer experience.
Team Leadership & Development

  • Assist in hiring, training, and developing strong retail team members.
  • Coach staff in providing an excellent customer experience through interactions & store presentation.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and exceptional customer service.
  • Lead monthly staff meetings to communicate company goals, promotions, and performance expectations.
Merchandising & Inventory

  • Train store teams on merchandising best practices and Wild Birds Unlimited brand standards.
  • Ensure stores maintain attractive, seasonal, and customer-focused merchandise presentations.
  • Review merchandising execution and provide coaching as needed.
Marketing & Community Engagement

  • Execute marketing plans in partnership with franchise owner.
  • Assist with community engagement initiatives.
Additional Responsibilities

  • Support franchise owner with special projects and operational initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the continued growth and success of the business.
Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of retail management or multi-unit leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience interpreting business metrics and using data to drive decisions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace; experience with retail POS or inventory management systems preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel regularly between store locations.
Preferred

  • Multi-store retail management experience.
  • Experience in specialty retail or franchise operations.
  • Familiarity with inventory management software such as ERPLY.
  • Passion for birds, nature, gardening, conservation, or outdoor living.
Salary $45-50k/year
