About the Position
Glatfelter Insurance Group is seeking a Sr. Accountant for our corporate finance department who will supervise the operations of the department through the exercise of professional accounting skills applied to various functions and through the direction, training, counseling and evaluation of direct reports. This role will communicate with insureds, agents and brokers regarding timely payment of their accounts and perform various accounting and record keeping duties related to the processing of customer payments. The role prepares, processes and records daily bank deposits and provides various customer account analyses to agents, insureds and brokers. The position will also reconcile all cash/check receipts, corresponds and communicates with associates and clients regarding customer accounts.
This position is required to be onsite at our Leader Heights, York, PA office.
What We’re Looking For
- BS in Accounting from an accredited college or university. Â
- Minimum of seven (7) years experience in industry or public accounting.
- Property/Casualty insurance industry familiarity or experience preferred.
- Numerical/analytical ability required for accounting problem solving.
- Ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, with associates, clients and other business contacts.
- Preference for activities involving accuracy, attention to detail and timely completion.
- Preference for work involving establishment, maintenance and documentation of policies for internal accounting control.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and interpret and follow guidelines and procedures.
- Desire to maintain and expand level of technical skills and professional demeanor.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the preparation of company financial statements as assigned.
- Responsible for the preparation of monthly/quarterly divisional budget versus actual variance reports as assigned.
- Responsible for cash management analysis, reporting and reconciliations.Â
- Works with Director, Finance and Accounting to establish, implement, maintain, and document policies and procedures for an efficient and effective system of internal accounting control to assure the integrity of accounting information and the safeguarding of company assets.
- Assists Director, Finance and Accounting in the planning, coordination and preparation of divisional, corporate and consolidated budgets. Â Provides technical assistance to managers in the preparation of sales, operating, capital and personnel budgets.
- Assists Director, Finance and Accounting preparation and documentation for year-end adjusting, closing, reversing and consolidating entries. Â
- Takes advantage of opportunities for professional growth and continued education.
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality and a professional demeanor in the performance of duties.
- Keeps the Director, Finance and Accounting and closely advised regarding the performance of duties.
- Performs other duties as required.
