Every 3rd Weekend and Holiday Rotation Required

Department Summary

Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) is a 10-bed intensive care unit (ICU) that provides care to critically ill stroke patients (both ischemic and hemorrhagic) and non-traumatic neurosurgery and neurology patients 18 years and older and serves as an overflow unit for medical patients. Post-operative neurosurgery and neuro-endovascular surgery procedures and care provided include, but are not limited to: ICP monitoring, care post IV and/or IA tPA administration, mechanical thrombectomy, AVM repair, aneurysm repair, carotid stenting procedures, craniotomy, CRRT, ventilator management, and hemodynamic monitoring.  

 

General Summary

Provides professional nursing care in accordance with the principles of patient and family-centered care based on the nursing process and according to the clinical standards of the hospital. Acts as a primary nurse for patients on the unit. Coordinates care planning with other disciplines. May require specialized skills depending on unit assignment.
