Position Summary Under the direct supervision of a supervisor assigned by the facility administrator, the Emergency Assistant provides security and emergency support, as well as general office assistance for the residents, staff, and grounds of the assigned facility.  Key Responsibilities Welcomes – Greets visitors and families at the security and reception desk as they enter the community. Directs – Instructs visitors/guests to sign in when entering the building and guides them to their destination. Communicates - Answers telephone, logs messages and/or requests for facility information according to the established policies and procedures. Provides light office support as needed; may distribute resident and staff mail. Responds – Responds to all emergency situations involving staff, visitors, residents, facility, grounds, or equipment problems. Notifies appropriate person (e.g., Administrator on call/Maintenance on call) according to established policies and procedures. Documents – Maintains logs and records of emergencies and unusual circumstances; maintains logs for nightly activities as appropriate. Secures – Ensures the building is secured by locking doors and conducting security checks according to established procedures, as appropriate. Sanitizes – Ensures to maintain a clean and sanitized reception area. Maintains - Retains knowledge of established emergency practices and procedures. Performs – Additional responsibilities assigned as required. QualificationsMinimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Some college coursework preferred. Six months of experience working with the public and/or customer services. The ability to read, write and follow written and oral instructions in English. Experience in a retirement community preferred. Ability to lift up to fifty pounds; to bend, stoop and twist. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
