Position Overview

Gasser Chair is seeking a highly organized and proactive Production Support Associate to support production efficiency within our Upholstery department. This role, internally referred to as a Water Spider, is responsible for ensuring that materials, components, and supplies are delivered accurately and on time to production stations, allowing upholsterers to remain focused on production.

The Production Support Associate will report to the Upholstery Manager and work closely with Upholstery Associates, Sewing, Foam, Assembly, and Logistics teams to maintain continuous workflow and minimize production downtime.

This position is ideal for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, anticipates needs, and takes ownership of keeping operations running smoothly.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Material Delivery: Transport upholstery kits, fabric, vinyl, foam components, hardware, and other materials to designated workstations in alignment with production schedules.
  • Work Order Staging: Stage upcoming jobs in the correct sequence to support continuous workflow and prevent downtime.
  • Work-in-Progress Movement: Move frames, seats, backs, and completed units between stations safely and efficiently.
  • Supply Replenishment: Monitor and restock consumables such as staples, glue, extrusion, and ring flex before shortages occur.
  • Bottleneck Prevention: Identify potential workflow disruptions and communicate issues proactively to maintain production flow.
  • ERP & Tracking Support: Assist with scanning, labeling, and basic ERP transactions related to job movement and material tracking.
  • Quality Awareness: Ensure materials delivered match job specifications and report discrepancies immediately.
  • Housekeeping & Organization: Maintain clean aisles, organized staging areas, and safe pathways to support a professional and efficient work environment.
  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate pallet jacks, carts, and other material handling equipment.
  • Production Support: Assist production team members with non-technical tasks to improve efficiency without performing skilled upholstery work.
  • Continuous Improvement: Provide feedback and suggestions to improve material flow and overall operational efficiency.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Tow motor experience preferred
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or production support preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn ERP systems.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work proactively and anticipate production needs.
  • Commitment to workplace safety.
