TEE RN Michigan Heart

POSITION PURPOSE

Registered Nurse with cardiac, procedural, surgical services, Cath lab or similar experience who will be responsible for assisting patients, families, and providers through the continuum of service offerings to resolution of care. 

Ensures the availability, access and timeliness of services in order to optimize quality of care, coordination and patient experience.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Monitors and tracks all patients who have been diagnosed with heart valve disease specifically but not limited to:

  • Maintain list of patients for aortic balloon Valvuloplasty, Mitral stenosis, pre TAVR patients, and patients with mitral clip.

  • Facilitate tests for patients.

  • Prepare patient office records for presentation at valve clinic meeting (cath films, MRA, carotids, TEE, Lab Tests)

  • Post Procedure follow up

  • Gain familiarity with echo criteria and valve protocols and notify physician when questions arise.

  • Identifies patients in need of ongoing diagnostic interventions and related services; and facilitates initial and follow up encounters in multidisciplinary clinic.

  • Provides input to the Valve Clinic Advisory Committees in the development of quality programs that include tracking information, care conference presentations, outcome measures and patient satisfaction indices.

  • Coordination of information and patient transfer to other hospitals that have availability to do valve procedures.

  • Provides and/or facilitates clinical and emotional support, education and resources to patients and their families.

  • Works with patients, providers, and caregivers to identify possible barriers to care and systematically helps to break down barriers (i.e. Financial, transportation, language, etc.).

  • Facilitates as necessary, timeliness of appointments; works continuously to reduce the intervals between time of abnormal results, diagnosis, and treatment.

  • Develops and maintains relationships with providers, internal service delivery departments, other caregivers and patients in order to coordinate services within the organization, at outside facilities and within the community.

  • Assists patients in accessing support and follow-up services.

MINIUMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in nursing.

Experience: Three years of progressive clinical nursing experience in Cardiovascular health.

Certification/Licensure: Current licensure in the State of Michigan.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Demonstrated ability to work closely with principal investigators and other stakeholders to coordinate the day-to-day activities of research studies.

Knowledge of research design principles, statistics, regulatory requirements, and ethical requirements preferred

Working knowledge of database systems and good basic computer skills.

Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate study and patient schedules.
