Key Responsibilities Room and prepare patients for exams, including obtaining vital signs and documenting in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) Assist providers with patient care, procedures, and administering medications and immunizations per protocol Collect and process laboratory specimens Schedule referrals and maintain referral tracking in the EHR Provide patient education as directed by the provider Assist with prescription refills under provider approval Maintain exam rooms, sterilize instruments, and stock medical supplies Perform diagnostic and pre-exam testing as needed Maintain accurate documentation and daily EHR worklists Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and quality improvement activities Provide excellent customer service to patients and support clinic operations Qualifications Medical Assistant certification required High school diploma or equivalent required Knowledge of EHR systems and medical terminology preferred Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment Work Environment Clinic setting requiring standing for extended periods and occasional lifting. May involve exposure to infectious materials. Adept at dealing with people in person or in telephone contacts Neatness and accuracy in performing tasks Ability to use discretion in situations dealing with confidential patient health information Effective time management skills       Familiarity with primary care outpatient clinic procedure (desirable) Demonstrate clear knowledge of Ampla Health’s clinic structure, standards, procedures and protocols COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS Must have neat and legible handwriting Must be able to interact with patients courteously and calmly Ability to communicate well with the public WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Works well with patients in a generally comfortable office environment. Employees must possess the following physical requirements: Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and push up to 100 pounds (on wheels) Able to work on feet the majority of the day without tiring Must be able to hear adequately to auscultate B/S Must have vision which is adequate to read increments on tuberculin syringe accurately Must be able to reach above shoulder level to work.  Must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, twist/turn This position has exposure to Aerosol Transmitted Diseases (ATD) and Blood Borne Pathogens (BBP)
